010: A Little Bit of Chaos
Today's been a day of ups and downs. Went shopping for Isabelle's birthday, wanted to find something nice to give it its own space apart from the recent shiva. Rebecca and I had some conflict about her worth as a person—when both people in a couple suffer from depression, being supportive is very difficult as it's easier to relate to the negative messaging the other person generates.
I started backing up my laptop (it's been acting funny, blocking basic management functions) and went to Leeann Chin's for lunch. There, I somehow bonded with the server over recent tribulations, including death in the family and monetary strains, and she slipped me a little something extra for lunch. It was touching, more emotionally impactful than it would've been under any other conditions.
Friends of the family brought gyros and kebabs from Holy Land for the shiva tonight. I'll tell you, any celebration that incorporates feasting can take the edge off anything.
